Journey
In early 2006, at the age of 33, Margo was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. After her initial shock and despair she underwent surgery and 6 months of chemotherapy.
Later that year Margo and her sisters came together to host a Backyard Breakfast to raise funds on behalf of The National Breast Cancer Foundation. The event was such a success, soon after they founded Margo’s Journey and went on to host an annual Fundraiser Dinner.
After 7 years in remission, towards the end of 2013 Margo was diagnosed with secondary Metastatic Cancer.
Margo never lost her faith and continued to fight always saying, “I will never be a statistic’….it was her strong faith and never loosing hope or her positive attitude that kept her strong and in great spirits even when there were times that another scan result was shattering news
Throughout the numerous ups and downs and seemingly endless chemotherapy, Margo never lost her faith and continued to fight, often reaching out to others to offer a guiding hand when they too had received a devastating cancer diagnosis,
Margo lent others her faith and her strength, more than anyone, she knew the value of support and offered her own wherever possible.
Margo’s passion for helping others was what drove her to continue to grow and raise money for Breast Cancer Research through Margo’s Journey, An event she was extremely proud of.
On April 22, 2021, surrounded by her family, Margo lost her long battle with Breast Cancer.
Her family continue Margo’s wish not only to find a cure, but to support others on their journey and continue her legacy of giving back.
And so in her honour, we continue Margo’s Journey;
A journey not only of determination, a journey of faith, hope and a fighting spirit.
